Six jurisdictions in the Yampa Valley will form a Regional Transportation Authority after voters in Routt and Moffat County approved formation of a dedicated transportation agency by a wide margin on Tuesday.

The closest vote margin came from the 400-resident town of Yampa, which still approved formation of the RTA by a 12-point margin, 83 ‘yes’ votes to 65 ‘no’ votes. The widest margin, perhaps unsurprisingly, came from the city of Steamboat Springs, which saw almost 90% of its voters choose ‘yes.’

Margins we’re strong elsewhere as well. In Oak Creek, RTA formation passed by a 81-19 margin, while in Hayden, the same question was approved by a 72-28 margin. Unincorporated Routt County enthusiastically supported the question, too, with voters there passing it by a 78-22 margin.

Voters in the city of Craig in neighboring Moffat County supported RTA formation too, with more than 68% of voters choosing ‘yes.’
